Alina Ștefania Gorghiu

Alina Ștefania Gorghiu is currently serving as the President ad interim of the Senate, Parliament of Romania. She is the first woman to serve as the President of the National Liberal Party, PNL (2014-2016). Alina Ștefania Gorghiu is currently PNL’s Vice President for human rights, protection of ethnic and religious minorities and for vulnerable groups of all kinds, and the PNL President for Argeș County. She was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 2008 to 2016, and since then she has been a member of the Senate.

Gorghiu has served as a member of the Romanian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA). She is now an alternate member of the Romanian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE.

She is a lawyer in the Bar Association of Bucharest since 2002. Gorghiu has a Phd. in Law and her areas of interest include legal and administrative sciences, gender equality, women and youth’s political representation, child’s rights and cultural policies.
